Abstract
Introduction: School sports have been considered as one of the most important issues in developed countries and extensive efforts have been made to improve it(1).Exercise can have a significant impact on students' well-being. It also has a significant effect on students' sense of belonging to the school(2).One of the most important issues in sports education is the design of in-school sports Olympiads (3).The general purpose of this study was to explain the role of intra-school sports Olympiads on students' sense of belonging to the school.
Methods: This research was applied in terms of purpose and was based on a descriptive information collection method that was conducted by field method. To conduct the research design, the statistical population of the research consisted of 2532 first and second grade high school students, boys and girls of Dehaghan city. According to Morgan's table, 334 people (167 students participating in the in-school sports Olympiad and 167 students not participating) were selected as the sample size by simple random sampling. Data collection tool in the present study included a questionnaire on the sense of belonging to Barry et al (2004). Independent t-tests were used to test the research hypotheses.
Results: Variable Groups Mean t sig
Feeling of belonging to the school Students participating in the Olympiad 3/08 7/583 0/001
Non-participating students in the Olympiad 2/19

According to the results of the above table, it was found that there was a significant difference between the state of feeling of belonging to the school and its components among the students participating in and non- participating in in-school sports Olympiads.
Conclusion: It seems that the capacities of in-school sports Olympiads in creating an attractive environment for students and diversifying the atmosphere in schools have caused a sense of belonging to the school and its components among students participating in in-school sports Olympiads. Most of the students do not participate in in-school sports Olympiads.
