Components of legal literacy of Iranian Premier League Soccer Players; A Qualitative Study

Abstract
Introduction: Law education seem to be a practical solution to strengthen the foundations of social life. Increasing legal literacy will ultimately lead to the development and consolidation of a transparent and accountable government based on the rule of law. The purpose of this study was to identifying the legal literacy of Iranian Premier League soccer players in 2021.
Methods: This research tried to provide a qualitative model to identify the components of legal literacy of Iranian Premier League soccer players. The statistical sample of this research consisted of 17 scientific and experimental experts in the field of sports management with a focus on the sport law. Data collection tools were semi-structured interviews as well as documents, articles and books in this field. Data analysis was performed using MAXQDA 18 software and a three-step process of open, axial and selective coding. The result of interviews with these two groups of experts as well as the available scientific documents, a total of 465 concept codes were extracted, of which 252 codes were related to academic experts and 212 codes were related to experimental experts.
Results: The findings showed that there are six key factors for designing the legal literacy of Iranian Premier League soccer players: proper familiarity with the structure of related sports institutions, professional sports contracts, sport offenses and the manner of penalties as well as defenses, commercial law and sports insurance.
Conclusion: The overall result of the research showed that there are various aspects of legal literacy that, by familiarizing themselves with them, can prevent the growing number of legal cases of players in the judicial committees of the Football Federation and even abroad.
