| Abstract |
| Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between physical activity level, obesity and nutritional status in female primary and secondary school teachers in Astana Ashrafiyeh city. Methods: In this descriptive-cross-sectional study, 300 female primary and secondary school teachers in Astana Ashrafiyeh city were selected through random sampling and were examined by referring to girls' schools. Weight, height, waist circumference, hip circumference, WHR, and BMI were measured. The physical activity level and nutritional status of teachers were collected using the Beck Physical Activity Questionnaire and the Adami-Cordra Nutritional Status Questionnaire. Independent t-tests and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to analyze the data, which was performed using SPSS software. Results: Secondary school teachers had more appropriate and better nutritional status, physical activity, WHR, and BMI than primary school teachers. Also, a significant negative relationship was observed between physical activity level and BMI in the two groups (P≤0.05). There was a significant negative relationship between nutritional status and BMI in the two groups (P≤0/05). A significant negative relationship was observed between age and BMI (P≤0/05). A significant negative relationship was observed between education level and WHR, BMI (P≤0/05). Also, a significant positive relationship was observed between education level and nutritional status (P≤0/05).. Conclusion: This study showed that elementary school teachers with less physical activity and unhealthy nutrition had higher body mass than secondary school teachers. Therefore, it is necessary to plan appropriately and effectively to achieve practical solutions in order to improve teachers' awareness of health and modify their lifestyle in order to increase physical activity and improve teachers' nutritional status |
