Abstract
Abstract
Introduction:
The rapid advancement of technology in sport, including digital platforms, artificial intelligence and data analytics, has gone beyond existing legal frameworks and created gaps between technological innovations and current regulations. This gap has created challenges for sports organizations, athletes, and legal professionals in terms of compliance with the rules. The purpose of this research is to examine the legal opportunities and challenges of using emerging technologies in the sports industry and its impact on existing legal structures and decision-making processes in sports management.
Methods:
This qualitative study included a review of previous studies and interviews with sports law experts.
Results:
The results showed that the use of artificial intelligence in sports analysis and decision-making, while offering many benefits, also raises concerns about privacy, algorithmic bias, and ethical implications. Also, the increasing reliance on proprietary data and algorithms has increased the need for legal protection of information and trade secrets, necessitating a review of legal frameworks. Blockchain technology also offers a solution for transparency in contracts and the fight against doping by enabling secure and immutable records, although it has challenges in terms of cross-border regulatory compliance and data protection. The interviews also emphasized the lag between law and technology, the need to determine the ownership of athlete data, and the ethical implications of artificial intelligence. However, opportunities for legal innovation were identified in areas such as dispute resolution, contract management, new regulation, and promoting fairness in sports processes.
Conclusion:
Emerging technologies have transformed the landscape of sports law and require adaptive and interdisciplinary legal frameworks. Collaboration between legal professionals, sports organizations, and policymakers is essential to develop innovative, sustainable, and digitally responsive solutions.
