| Abstract |
| Introduction: One of the human resources that plays a prominent role in the success of sports organizations is sports coaches, whose smallest decision can affect the performance of the entire sports organization in the field of championship sports (Dehghan, 2012). Therefore, the implementation of effective systems for recruiting coaches naturally has an important and special place. So, the aim of the present study was to pathology the sports coach recruiting system in Iran. Methods: The present study was a qualitative study conducted using thematic analysis. The statistical population of the study included experts and specialists familiar with the field of sports coaching in Iran. Sampling was purposefully conducted considering the qualitative nature of the research, which was conducted up to 18 people until theoretical saturation was reached. The instrument of the present study was a semi-structured interview. In this study, thematic analysis method was used to analyze the data. Results: Based on the findings, it was determined that the pathology of the sports coach recruiting system in Iran contained 8 main components. The results showed that in the field of recruiting and selecting sports coaches, challenges were identified and categorized in the areas of statistics and information, sports planning, structure and organization, volunteering and internships, talent acquisition and succession planning, competence, rent and informal relationships, and initial training.. Conclusion: Considering the challenges identified in the field of recruiting sports coaches, it is proposed that a Supreme Sports Coaching Council be formed, chaired by the Minister of Sports and with members from influential individuals and experts in the field of coaching at the national and provincial levels, its statute be drafted and approved, and it should take charge of matters related to policy-making, organization, and overall supervision of coaches. |
