Abstract
Abstract
Introduction:
In the past decade, rapid technological changes have fundamentally reshaped both the epistemological and functional structures of sport in Iran, redefining its institutional logic from traditional frameworks toward the configuration of a digital, intelligent, and networked ecosystem. Within this transition, educational sport has emerged as the most dynamic sub‑system driving the formation of smart learning environments. This study therefore conducts a foresight analysis of digital transformation impacts on the evolution of Iran’s educational sport system toward Horizon 1415 (2036).
Methods:
This applied, qualitative foresight study was designed based on an environmental scanning approach grounded in the STEEPLED model. The statistical population consisted of sport management faculty members holding the rank of associate professor and above. The participants’ perspectives were collected through a researcher‑developed questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM).
Results:
SEM analysis revealed that digital transformation and transformative technologies exhibited the highest standardized factor loading (β = 0.941) on the educational sport dimension, demonstrating its dominant influence among the four sport domains — professional, championship, public, and educational.
Conclusion:
The findings underscore the strategic and central role of educational sport in Iran’s nationwide digital transformation and the redefinition of its learning ecosystem. Achieving a smart sport system requires technological capacity‑building, innovation in digital pedagogy, and empowerment of teaching–learning processes through artificial intelligence and augmented reality applications. This research thus articulates a policy foresight framework for leveraging transformative technologies and orchestrating sustainable educational reform toward Horizon 1415 (2036).
