| Abstract |
| Introduction: Today, motivational factors such as Work engagement have been considered as the core of a teacher's professional competencies to be used by the teacher as a driving force towards achieving the goals of the education system. The more teachers are passionate about their job, the more they are enthusiastic about their work and enjoy the time they spend on it to the point where they consider their job a part of their life (Cemberci, 2022). The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between Work engagement and demographic characteristics of physical education teachers in South Khorasan Province. Methods: This research was applied and descriptive-analytical and correlational in terms of data collection. The statistical population of the present study consisted of all physical education teachers in South Khorasan Province. Given the limitations in the population, a statistical sample equal to the statistical population was selected (n=N). For this purpose, 286 people completed the demographic characteristics questionnaires (gender, age, marital status, education level, educational level, work experience, number of children, and monthly income) and Work engagement questionnaires (Three dimensions of power, commitment and attraction) of Shoufli et al (2006). SPSS version 26 software was used to test the hypotheses. Results: The results of this study showed that there was a significant difference (p≤0.05) between Work engagement and gender, age, work experience, number of children, monthly income, and marital status of physical education teachers in South Khorasan, but no significant difference was observed between Work engagement and education level and academic degree. Conclusion: A fundamental factor in improving teacher performance and the level of efficiency of educational organizations is teacher Work engagement (Baker et al., 2014). The findings of this study can be considered as an effective strategy for promoting the Work engagement of physical education teachers. |
