| Abstract |
| Introduction: The multiplicity of sports disciplines, diverse types of sports activities, standards related to sports competitions, and physical encounters in most sports increase the risk of incidents, injuries, and mortality in sports. To compensate for injuries resulting from sports-related incidents and minimize their societal impacts, insurance coverage in sports has been identified as one of the most practical approaches (Young Cheng, 2011). Sports insurance, as a guarantor of the continuity of sports activities, plays a crucial role in contemporary society. The present study was conducted with the aim of presenting operational solutions for improving the status of organized athletes. Methods: This research is applied in terms of purpose and exploratory qualitative in terms of methodology, based on grounded theory with Glaser's approach. Research data were collected through snowball sampling and in-depth semi-structured interviews with 14 experts, including presidents of sports federations, managers of sports organizations, sports insurance specialists, sports medicine board members, and supervisors of competitive events. Data collection was performed using two methods: semi-structured interviews and review of related literature. Data were analyzed based on grounded theory and Glaser's classical approach. Results: Finally, following open, axial, and selective coding, four categories of solutions were identified and proposed to improve the current situation: Managerial solutions (senior management commitment, selection of skilled personnel, continuous athlete surveys, and electronic insurance card implementation); Structural solutions (establishment of specialized provincial hospitals, expedited compensation payment, and service simplification); Economic solutions (tariff setting proportional to sport-specific injury risks, increased compensation ceiling, flexible tariffs, experience-based discounts, and tax exemption); and Promotional solutions (strengthening media advertising, guidebook distribution, and subsidy provision). Conclusion: Improving the sports insurance system requires adopting a comprehensive approach that includes managerial commitment, structural transformation, economic flexibility, and effective promotion to attract athlete satisfaction and participation. |
