| Abstract |
| Introduction: The development of university sports is influenced by a set of social, approach, scientific and individual factors (Saberi, 2024). The purpose of this study was to identify the factors affecting the increase in the participation of Golestan University students in recreational sports camps. Methods: The method of conducting the present study was qualitative and Strauss and Corbin's data theory method was used to build a conceptual research model. The statistical population of the study included all sports science professors and sports and cultural managers of the university. Purposeful sampling was carried out, which achieved theoretical saturation with 12 interviews. Finally, the information obtained from the interviews was analyzed in MAXQDA software version 2020. Results: The results of the study indicate the identification of 2 scientific components (positive attitude towards sports and physical and mental health), 3 contextual components (facilities, easy access, and support from managers), 2 intervening factors (lack of free time and participation costs), 2 strategies (attractive sports programs and creating motivation through awards), and 3 outcomes (increasing physical and mental health, strengthening social relationships, and reducing stress). Conclusion: Increasing student participation in recreational sports programs is the result of the interaction between individual, environmental, and organizational factors. |
