| Introduction: Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, as one of the most innovative managerial tools, play a crucial role in enhancing the resilience and reducing the vulnerability of sports clubs in the face of crises. Methods: This study was conducted using a qualitative approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 16 participants, including football club managers, coaches, artificial intelligence specialists, and selected researchers, and were analyzed using thematic analysis through three stages of coding. Results: An analysis of sports clubs in Iran and Iraq reveals both shared and distinct challenges in adopting AI technologies across behavioral, structural, and contextual dimensions. In Iran, despite growing managerial awareness of AI’s benefits, limited digital skills, inadequate technical infrastructure, and economic restrictions caused by sanctions hinder effective implementation. In Iraq, managers show increasing interest in technological innovation; however, insufficient training, the persistence of traditional management systems, and political–economic instability restrict investment and technological transformation. Conclusion: The findings indicate that artificial intelligence can enhance the resilience of sports clubs against crises, but limited digital skills, weak infrastructure, and economic constraints hinder its full utilization. Therefore, it is recommended to implement training programs, develop data-driven infrastructure, establish supportive policies, and promote knowledge exchange between Iran and Iraq to effectively leverage AI technologies in sports crisis management.. |
