| Abstract |
| Research Objective: The aim of the present study is to study competitive anxiety and general (mental) health and their relationship with each other in skilled basketball players. Research Method: The participants were 103 skilled basketball players who were selected through convenience sampling. The Sports Competition Anxiety Questionnaire (SCAT, Martinez 1977) and the Mental Health Questionnaire (GHQ28) were used to collect information. The data were evaluated using SPSS version 22 software and Pearson correlation analysis and analysis of variance. Results: The results showed that there is a significant relationship between competitive anxiety and general (mental) health. Also, there is a statistically significant difference between skilled basketball players with good, average and poor general (mental) health levels in terms of competitive anxiety. Conclusion: The results of the study showed that with an increase in the level of competitive anxiety, the level of general (mental) health decreases. Therefore, it is possible that modulating competitive anxiety can help improve general (mental) health. |
