Abstract
Body image plays a crucial role in psychological well-being and physical health, particularly in the context of sports and physical activity. The present study aimed to localize and assess the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Body Self-Assessment Scale (BSAS) among Iranian adolescents and adults.

Methods:
The BSAS was translated and culturally adapted into Persian following international guidelines. A total of 48 Iranian participants (male and female; adolescents and adults) completed the scale. Construct validity was examined through exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis (EFA and CFA). Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha, and test–retest reliability was evaluated using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). Convergent validity was assessed by correlating BSAS scores with the Body Esteem Scale.

Results:
Factor analyses supported the multidimensional structure of the scale, and the confirmatory model indicated an acceptable fit. The first section of the questionnaire (23 items) showed excellent internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.927), while the second section (5 items) demonstrated acceptable reliability (α = 0.700). All items met the minimum corrected item-total correlation threshold, with only minor deviations that did not warrant item deletion.

Conclusion:
The Persian version of the BSAS showed strong evidence of reliability and validity in a sample of Iranian adolescents and adults. These findings support its applicability for assessing body image in Persian-speaking populations. Further validation with larger and more diverse samples is recommended.
