| Introduction: Dormitory life in an environment separate from home and family, with people who have different sleep and wake habits, as well as pressures related to student assignments, can cause sleep disorders in students living in dormitories [1]. For this purpose, the present study attempts to investigate the effect of one session of muscular endurance training on sleep disorders in female students living in dormitories. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 20 students from different academic fields who were randomly selected. First, all participants completed the Lynch Sleep Disorder Questionnaire (2003) at 6 pm regarding the characteristics related to their recent nights' sleep, and then they were divided into two groups of 10 people, control and experimental. The experimental group did muscular endurance exercises from 7 pm to 8 pm. The next day (6 pm), all participants completed the questionnaire again based on the characteristics related to their previous night's sleep. The data were analyzed using paired t-test and independent t-test at a significance level of P≤0.05. Results: The results of the paired t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group (t=3.347, p=0.012). Also, the results of independent t-test confirmed a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group (t=2.559, p=0.021). Conclusion: As previous studies have shown, physical activity, especially in the evening [2], is recommended as an alternative or supplement to existing treatments for sleep disorders [3]. Therefore, given the significant positive effect of one session of muscular endurance training on improving sleep disorders in female dormitory students, the use of this type of exercise is recommended for dormitory students |
