The effect of virtual training of self-compassion program on the aggression of soccer players

Introduction: Self-compassion is widely used as a powerful source of regulating and controlling the emotional behaviors of athletes. Therefore, the purpose of the current research was the effect of virtual training of self-compassion program on the aggression of football players.
Methods: The current research was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design. The participants included 30 football players from Zanjan city, who were randomly selected in two groups of 15 people, experimental (average age: 20.83 ± 1.27) and control (average age: 21.58 ± 1.24). were placed Participants completed the Bass and Perry Aggression Questionnaire. The experimental group performed various video, audio and written exercises during 6 weeks, and the control group did not have any intervention. Data were analyzed through SPSS 24 software and univariate analysis of covariance at a significance level of 0.05.
Results: The results showed that by controlling the pre-test score, there is a significant difference between the aggression scores of the two experimental and control groups (p=0.01).
Conclusion: Based on the findings of the research and considering the easy access and ease of implementation of self-compassion program virtual training, sports coaches can use this program to reduce athletes' aggression.
