| Introduction: The purpose of this study was the effect of eight weeks of PNF stretching exercises and strengthening of core stability on the balance and quality of life of female athletes with ankle instability. Methods: The statistical population of the current research was made up of all female athletes aged 18 to 24 years old located in the clubs of Isfahan city, and among them, 29 people were randomly selected as a statistical sample and randomly divided into three groups of stretching exercises (10 people) and central stability exercises (10 people) and combined exercises (9 people) were included. The experimental samples performed three sessions of their respective training protocol for 8 weeks. Before and after the training session, static and dynamic balance and quality of life were measured using the Stork balance test, Y tests and the SF-36 questionnaire, respectively. For data analysis, covariance test was used at a significance level of 0/05. Results: The results showed that there was a difference between before and after all three groups, but the results of Bonferroni's post hoc test indicated that the exercises were more effective in the combined group. Conclusion: Due to the effectiveness of these two training programs, it can be considered necessary for trainers, occupational therapists and people suffering from functional ankle instability to perform these two training programs. |
