| Objective: Balance is a fundamental component of motor skills, especially in adolescents. This study aimed to investigate the effect of a step aerobics training program accompanied by music on static and dynamic balance indicators in female students. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, a number of female high school students (mean age: 15.2 ± 0.8 years) were selected and randomly divided into an experimental group (n=15) and a control group (n=15). The experimental group participated in a step aerobics program, performed with music, for 8 weeks, three sessions per week, each lasting 45 minutes. The control group maintained their daily routine activities. The Stork Test was used to assess static balance, and the Y Balance Test (YBT) was utilized to evaluate dynamic balance in anterior, posteromedial, and posterolateral directions. Pre-test and post-test measurements were conducted, and data were analyzed using ANCOVA. Results: The findings showed a significant improvement in the static balance of the experimental group compared to the control group (p<0.05). Furthermore, in the dynamic balance test, significant improvements were observed in the posteromedial and posterolateral directions (p<0.05). However, no significant difference was found in the anterior direction between the two groups (p>0.05). Conclusion: An 8-week step aerobics training program with music can effectively enhance static balance and dynamic balance in the posteromedial and posterolateral directions in female students. This type of exercise is recommended as an effective and enjoyable intervention for improving balance in this population. |
